Request Account Deletion

We respect your right to control your data. This page explains how to request permanent deletion of your Laao Express account and all associated personal data.

How to Request Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your Laao Express account directly from the app. Follow these steps:

    Open the Laao Express App

    Launch the Laao Express app on your device and sign in to your account.

    Navigate to Account Settings

    Go to your profile or account settings section within the app. Look for “Delete Account” or “Account Deletion” in the account management options.

    Submit Your Deletion Request

    Confirm your request to delete your account. You will see a confirmation screen with details about the recovery window.

    Alternatively, Contact Support

    If you are unable to access the app, you can also request account deletion by emailing us at support@laao.in with the subject line “Account Deletion Request”. Please include the phone number or email address associated with your account so we can verify your identity.

Recovery Period

When you request account deletion, your account enters a recovery period before permanent deletion takes effect. During this period:

  • Your account is soft-deleted — it is no longer visible to other users and you cannot use the app services.
  • You can restore your account at any time during the recovery window simply by signing back into the app. Your data will be fully reinstated.
  • Once the recovery window expires, your account and associated personal data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

What Data Is Deleted and What Is Retained

Data That Is Deleted

Upon permanent deletion (after the recovery window expires), the following data is removed:

  • Personal identifiers — full name, email address, phone number
  • Authentication data — password hash, session tokens, OAuth provider links (Google, Apple)
  • Profile information — avatar, gender, date of birth, profile photos
  • Location data — hub address and coordinates
  • Government IDs — masked Aadhaar numbers, government registration numbers, uploaded verification documents
  • Device data — FCM tokens, VoIP tokens, platform information
  • Payout account details — UPI IDs, bank account numbers, IFSC codes

Data That May Be Retained

Certain data may be retained after account deletion for legal and operational reasons:

  • Transaction records — payment and wallet transaction history is retained as required by applicable financial regulations and tax laws.
  • Package delivery records — anonymized delivery logs may be retained for operational audit purposes and dispute resolution. Personal identifiers are removed from these records.
  • Legal hold data — if your account is subject to an ongoing legal hold, dispute, or regulatory investigation, relevant data may be retained until the matter is resolved.
  • Aggregated/anonymized data — data that has been aggregated or anonymized so that it can no longer identify you may be retained for analytics and business intelligence purposes.

Additional Retention Period

After your account and personal data are permanently deleted, any data retained for legal or regulatory compliance purposes (such as financial transaction records) will be retained only for the minimum period required by applicable Indian laws and regulations — typically up to 7 years for tax-related financial records under the Income Tax Act. Once the mandated retention period expires, this data is also permanently deleted.
